There have been many reports in recent news about drivers getting high on heroin, and then getting behind the wheel of a vehicle. This is not only dangerous to the driver, but everyone surrounding them. Thousands of innocent people are killed each year by someone intoxicated behind the wheel.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that over 16% of drivers tested positive for over-the-counter, prescription or illegal medications in a Roadside Survey done in 2007. In addition, over 11% tested positive for illegal drugs; many for heroin.

Heroin is a drug that is derived from the opium plant, making this a highly addictive opiate. This drug can be snorted, smoked, or injected, but one major route of use is intravenously or through injecting. Heroin comes in a power or black tar form, depending on how you administer the drug. For most that start this drug, stopping seems impossible. The withdrawal from heroin use is very painful and uncomfortable and this is why many who do not seek the right kind of help to get off this drug, turn right back to it.

As said before, heroin is causing a major problem for those who like to use and then drive. Heroin tends to make the user nod of, which when driving is very dangerous. In many reports from recent news users that had been on heroin ran off the road, almost hit pedestrians, and one even killed an older women.

Helping out in your city with this problem may seem impossible, but there are many things you could do. For one just being aware of your surroundings is key. If you notice the person driving in front of you swerving a lot or constantly jerking their head back up like they have dozed off, call the authorities and let them know. Something else you could do is if you are driving and see someone in their car passed out or dozing off, stop and ask them if you could call someone to come and pick them up. Doing just these few things could save lives, including your own.

Narconon is one of the best treatment centers available with a success rate of over 70% for permanent sobriety from heroin addiction. The facility has been able to help many overcome their addiction to heroin and go on to lead happy and productive lives. When an individual gets to a point where they are endangering their own and others lives because of substance abuse, this is way past the point of needing help.

Treatment is the only way to overcome heroin addiction.

This rehab has helped many people turn their life around to be the son, daughter, mother, or father that they were meant to be. This program not only helps put families back together, but also builds strong confident people and brings them back into society. With Narconon’s help, a person can be that person that they always wanted to be.

Narconon is a long-term, in-patient treatment center with a non-traditional way of doing things. When you enter the Narconon program you will first go through the withdrawal section. This will allow your body to come off the drugs in a quiet and well watched area.

At Narconon they do not use drugs to come off of drugs so there is no risk of becoming addicted to another narcotic. After this process, you then go in what is called Therapeutic Training Routines. These routines help a person to improve their ability to focus, start and finish cycles, and improve communication with others.

After the Therapeutic Training Routines, you would then start the New Life Detoxification Program. This is where a person sits in a dry heat sauna for 5 to 10 minutes at a time to sweat all the drug residuals out of your body. This goes on anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks depending on the person and each drug case. This is a very important part of the program because after all of the residuals are out of the body, the physical cravings will be completely eliminated.

After sauna there are 6 more courses to go through until the program is completed. These courses help improve a person and how they communicate and interact with others. There is also a course on how to handle and confront past and present issues. Sometimes these issues have caused a person to use and continue to use. By confronting and handling these issues, it will help a person to move past them and not continue to let these issues weigh them down.

For those who have experienced it, Narconon is an amazing treatment center and has helped thousands.

I know this personally because my own husband has been through this program and for that, he is a changed man. He has now been sober for almost 4 years and things couldn’t be better. If you need help putting your family back together, call Narconon today at 800-468-6933.

Jena Dolstad was a fourteen-year-old girl who looked older than her years. Sean Warner was a 26-year-old former Navy medic who returned from Afghanistan suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). When these two met in Anchorage, Alaska in December 2011, that meeting would end in disaster for both of them.

According to Sean’s aunt and uncle who raised him, his parents struggled with drug and alcohol problems but Sean chose a positive road of academic accomplishments, ROTC and military duty. But after he returned from Afghanistan, he began his own struggles. He began to suffer sleep problems and nervousness. He was prescribed medication by the Veteran’s Administration but this wasn’t enough. He began to self-medicate with heroin. At that point, everything changed. His uncle said, “Sean was pretty much a regular guy until heroin came into his life.”

His family saw his struggle and tried to encourage Sean to get help. But they never realized how serious his problem was.

On the Friday before Christmas, Sean and a couple of his buddies picked up Jena so they could all “hang out” together for awhile. It’s not clear where Jena got the methamphetamine and cocaine in her system, but witnesses state that she asked Sean if she could try the China White heroin he was sharing with his friends. She requested that he inject her with the drug because she didn’t want to inject herself. It took Sean a few tries to find a vein but then he finally succeeded in injecting her with an overdose of high-grade heroin that would result in her death several days later.

The three men left her on a bed, face down. When they checked on her in the morning, she was lying in a pool of her own vomit and her pulse was weak. Rather than deliver her to an emergency room, Sean gave her Suboxone, a drug used to treat opiate addicts. When she began to convulse, he finally called paramedics.

Jena suffered heart and brain damage from the drugs and failure to get her timely medical care. She remained on life support for six days before succumbing. Sean is in jail.

Drug Abuse Can Harm Everyone in its Path

The abuse of drugs like heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, prescription drugs and others can do more than just result in the addiction or death of the drug user. As in this example, those around the addicted person can themselves become addicted or lose their lives. The only safety is in helping a person who is addicted to find addiction recovery, the sooner the better.

Derry Hallmark, Director of Admissions at Narconon Arrowhead, a premier drug rehabilitation center in Oklahoma, stated, “Every time a person recovers from addiction at our center, everyone in the area they return to benefits. That person, now sober, can prove to others that sobriety after addiction is possible and will definitely will not be distributing drugs to others.”

When addicted people choose Narconon Arrowhead for their recovery, they not only get a long-term, residential program that uses no drugs of any kind in their treatment, they also get a program with an excellent success rate. Seven out of ten graduates of the program achieve lasting sober lives after they return home.

“If a family is trying to help someone who can’t stop using an addictive substance, they can call Narconon Arrowhead for advice on the best way to get that person started on their path to sobriety,” added Mr. Hallmark. “We can help them transition that person toward recovery.

“This is one of the most difficult situations families ever have to face,” he concluded. We are here to help families turn addiction around into lasting sobriety and a return to the person they used to know before the drug abuse started.”

To help someone you know who is struggling with addiction, contact Narconon Arrowhead today at 1-800-468-6933 for successful heroin drug rehab with an over 70% success rate.

This is when basically a person mixes drugs together to get a more a longer, more intense high. Many addicts do this with all different types of drugs. However, many opiate addicts are mixing prescriptions with illicit drugs and the use of Oxy Contin and heroin together has become increasingly popular.

Heroin and Oxy Contin are both opiates and are highly addictive. Heroin, also known as skag, H, and brown sugar, is dangerous all on its own just for the simple fact that you never know what the dealer is going to “cut” it with. This creates a problem in today’s society. A user may think they can use a certain amount, but then get it from a new dealer, it be that little bit that pushes them to an overdose. It is the initial rush and feeling of euphoria from this drug that can take any average person and turn them into a full blown addict.

Oxy Contin is a very strong pain killer prescribed to those with moderate to severe pain, but unfortunately is becoming highly abused. This drug is being abused by being snorted, injected, or smoked. The effects of these drugs are very similar to heroin. This is why after being prescribed and becoming addicted to this drug many move to heroin. Heroin is easier to find and you get way more for your money. Oxy Contin, shown in recent studies, is more appealing to the adolescent crowd. This is probably due to the fact that that most think because it can be prescribed by a doctor that it is ok and that there isn’t a possibility that they can become addicted to it. Some have found that this isn’t true.

Mixing these two drugs together is very dangerous for any age, race, or gender. A cross addiction to any two drugs can be lethal and it is best to just not use any of these harmful substances. Many have a cross addiction to heroin and Oxy Contin for a couple of reasons. Combining these drugs can intensify the high, make the high last longer, or to keep from withdrawing from either of these drugs. Not only is this dangerous and can cause many lifelong problems, but can also lead a person straight to death.

Someone that is suffering from a cross addiction may be severely in need of help. Heroin and Oxy Contin addiction is a serious problem and users cannot wait on help. If you would like more information on cross addiction or know someone that may have one, call Narconon today at 800-468-6933.

Everyone wants their children to do well, to be that kid that everyone brags about. For many this is true, but for others they get the rude awakening that their child has become addicted to heroin. Finding out that your child has a drug addiction is a very hard issue to deal with, and often can cause problems within the family that can be impossible to repair.
Heroin, for those of you who don’t know, is a highly addictive drug that can be snorted, smoked, or injected. This drug is very addictive because after a single a use, an individual can experience withdrawal symptoms that worsen the more the drug is used. This usually draws the person back to the drug and makes it impossible to quit using. The person must then spend their time consumed with the need to get the drug to keep from enduring the painful withdrawals.

There is no specific type of person that uses heroin. Anyone from a bum on the street to a successful business man can use and abuse this drug. Statistics show that the age range for use of this drug is pretty specific. We see an increase in 18-25 years old having the worst problem with heroin addiction. Heroin addiction does not discriminate though. No matter what age, race, or class you are, you can become victim to heroin addiction. All drugs are dangerous and should not be used by anyone. The fact is, they continue to get abused everyday and we have yet to see a decrease in first time use. In fact, the total number of people needing treatment and not receiving it rises as the years pass.

Parents dealing with a child addicted to drugs, most often feels totally hopeless. Many feel as if there is nothing they can do to help them. This is definitely not true. There are many different options available for treatment. One of which is Narconon Arrowhead.

Those addicted can resort to anything they can to get their drugs, whether it is crime, prostitution or betraying those they love the most.

Heroin is highly known for bringing crime along with its importation into the U.S. because most users immediately become addicted and the competition among dealers is high. Heroin also makes its users turn to other illegal acts like prostitution and gambling for money. Past studies have shown that around 1980-1990 that crimes related to the use were steady, but as heroin grew more popular, so did the arrests.

Heroin has lead to many deaths and arrests all over the world and is showing no sign of stopping. Loved ones as well as users should be educated on treatment and alternatives so that the negative consequences of addiction, jail and death, are not the only solutions.

Narconon is one of the top rehabs in the world on stopping addiction, with a success rate of more than 70%. Narconon has many locations all over the world, each one ready to help anyone who needs it, to take that step. This program is a non-traditional, and long-term. Narconon is unique in that not only do they help a person get off of drugs, but also helps the person to rid the body of all toxins they have put in their body throughout their drugs use. This program also helps a person confront and deal with past problems that have maybe lead to or continued the drug use.

The Narconon Program would be a great alternative for anyone that needs treatment as well as those struggling with legal difficulties that need treatment. This program will help them to get clean and rehabilitate their moral code, as well allowing them to make up the damage for their transgressions.

Narconon, without using drugs, can get results with heroin addiction and help those struggling to fully recover.

Anyone who uses the tools provided in this program can have freedom from heroin addiction, and from all the misconduct that accompanies any addiction. If you know someone that has been in trouble and is struggling with a heroin addiction, call Narconon today at 800-468-6933.

The statistics of heroin overdose are scary, but there is a number of people that have came back from this drug and can today be a functioning part of society.
There are many different treatment centers available to treat many different addictions in this world; you just have to find the one that is right for you. Mitch, a former heroin user, found his treatment center and is now 4 years sober.
“I started using drugs at 8 years old, there wasn’t much life before drugs,” he states.
Mitch loved to play sports and was a very active child, but by the age of 13 he was a hard core drug user. He lost more than most kids should, friends and family’s trust, his health, almost his freedom a couple of times, his whole life.

“Narconon completely changed my life for the better,” says Mitch. “I now always have money in my pocket and a smile on my face.”

Narconon is a non-traditional rehab that has locations all over the United States. Narconon is a unique program that not only helps someone to become clean, but to also rid the body of the drugs so they can become successful in life and leaves all drug use behind. Narconon uses a dry heat sauna to rid the body of all drug residuals that are stored in the body fat of the user. By doing this the user will no longer have those random cravings for the drug and can move on to the next step of their life.

Narconon also helps the user through different courses which helps the person to confront and overcome things from their past. This will help the person in the future to instead of running from their problems to just confront and handle the situation.

Narconon is just one of the many programs out there, but is considered one of the best. This program has not only helped Mitch through his addiction but thousands of others. To learn more about Narconon or educate yourself more on addiction you can call Narconon today at 800-468-6933.

It was marketed as a “less addicting substitute for morphine”. Little did they realize heroin would rapidly turn into one of the most devastating street drugs in today’s society.

In recent years heroin has become easily available, as well as affordable. We are seeing more and more youth being sucked into this heroin epidemic. Statistics have shown that the majority of heroin related overdoses involve the use of other drugs or alcohol. In most recent studies about 29% of heroin related deaths involved alcohol, and 12% also tested positive for benzodiazepines such as, xannax, valium, and kolonopin. Studies have also shown that about 85% of heroin overdoses occurred in the presence of other users. These alarming statistics just go to show the severity of today’s heroin epidemic.

A fact that is not well known is the majority of heroin overdoses do not occur within the first year of abuse. Contrary to what people believe it is not pure heroin that kills, but the impure mixture of drugs used to cut the heroin. If users had pure supply of heroin that was reliable, there would be much less likelihood of overdose, but when a heroin user takes anything they can get their hands on in the street, they have no way of knowing what the drug is cut with.
Another fact that studies have revealed is that the majority of heroin users who overdose have very poor hygiene, and are malnourished. This is very common among long term heroin abusers. A few indicators of heroin overdose are:

• Cardiac Effects
Acute Cardiomyopathy
Arrhythmia
Haemoglobinaemia
• Muscular Effects
Rhabdomyolysis
• Pulmonary Effects
Pneumonia
Oedema
• Neurological Effects
Cognitive Impairment

The best way to prevent a heroin overdose is obviously abstinence. In the event that a person experiments with heroin some of the most common indicators of heroin abuse are:

• Dark circles under eyes.
• Nodding off.
• Lack of motivation.
• Change in attitude.
• Very small pupils.
• Bruises around veins.
• Malnourishment.

These are not all of the signs of heroin addiction, but these are some that could lead a person to know what has been going on with a loved one behind closed doors. Someone who is severely addicted to heroin is in serious need of help whether they want it or not. Helping someone that you know or could possibly be using heroin will, in the long run, thank you for helping them find treatment and be the person that they know they can be.

Most popular for her song “Rehab”, Amy was considered to be a very talented singer, who struggled with an addiction to many substances. Leading up to the autopsy of Amy Winehouse, much speculation has been made to the true cause of death in this situation. While authorities claim that her death was “not suspicious” and that there were no signs of foul play, past history of Winehouse suggests otherwise. The true cause of death will not be known until the release of the toxicology report, until then, it is only speculation.
Amy Winehouse has spent much time in the tabloids, battling an addiction with cocaine and many other illicit substances. The publicity of drug addiction started with the star in about 2005, when she went through rapid weight loss. The singer was reported to have been using large amounts of drugs causing her to have violent mood swings.

Shortly after this time, the drug use seemed to slow, but around 2006, after the loss of her grandmother, Winehouse turned back to the heavy and public drug abuse.

During 2007, Winehouse canceled most of her US and European tour dates due to her battle with addiction. She was hospitalized as a result to an overdose on several drugs, including; heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, ketamine, and alcohol.

These drugs alone are extremely dangerous, but when mixed together, they can be lethal. After leaving the hospital, Winehouse “really thought that it was over” for her, referring to her drug use. Soon after being released, she began using drugs and alcohol again. As a result, her father was forced to move in with her. Winehouse’s label even threatened to stop U.S. promotion if she did not seek some sort of treatment. She entered treatment for a short time in the beginning of 2008. Throughout 2008, Amy spent a good amount of time in and out of rehab.

During 2009, Amy claimed to have stopped using drugs. Looking at her appearance, improved complexion and increased weight, it was easy to see Amy had definitely backed off the illicit drugs. Amy continued to struggle with alcohol.

Her act of abstinence from drugs continued for most of 2010, as Winehouse stayed out of the spot light, seemingly to have cleaned up her act. In May 2011, Amy returned to drug rehab. After a week in rehabilitation, she went to a performance in Serbia, which was supposed to kick off her European tour. Her intoxication was quite evident, and the performance was unsuccessful, to say the least. As a result, the tour was canceled.

On July 23, 2011, Amy Winehouse was found dead by the Metropolitan police in London.

Catastrophic events like this occur daily throughout society. Although most are not as highlighted as a celebrity like Amy, all are tragic. When addiction is spotted, effective and thorough treatment is necessary to end the addiction, and in this case, save a life. Sometimes the initial feeling of happiness will last only minutes, and the user feels compelled to take another hit to prolong the emotion. This is the beginning of dependence. This onset can happen very quickly in some people, while others may take more time to develop the full symptoms. Once addiction has been formed, the person will also suffer feelings of extreme withdrawal, which can make them become violent because of the anxiety the drug causes.

The joy of using cocaine and the anxiety from withdrawing from the drug makes cocaine one of the most addictive substances in the world. This leaves a person feeling helpless and alone. A person who is a cocaine addict continues to use the drug, even though they are experiencing negative consequences in their life as a result. They are not able to choose whether they are going to use heroin. Instead, they experience a “need” for it that becomes a driving force in their life. However there is hope for those struggling with cocaine addiction and with the right treatment it can be fully overcome.

The earlier addiction is treated, the better. Don’t wait for your loved one to hit bottom! Be prepared for excuses and denial in a user, especially when it comes to getting help. It is possible to support a person with a substance abuse problem and encourage treatment and many will enroll in cocaine rehab programs because of their friends and families support. This way they can get the help they need to live a stable and productive life off drugs.

There is hope; Narconon cocaine abuse treatment is an inpatient program that specializes in teaching people how to overcome their addiction and become a productive member of society once again
